Bloomington, Edina, and Richfield Gardens
Bloomington Public Health offered funding to new and expanding community gardens in Bloomington, Edina and Richfield through SHIP, the Statewide Health Improvement Program. SHIP is funded by the Minnesota Department of Health for the purpose of increasing opportunities for active lifestyles and healthy eating, and decreasing the incidence of diet-related chronic disease.
These community gardens are focused on reducing health disparities and improving access to fresh produce in Bloomington, Edina and Richfield. They will provide 20% or more of their garden space to groups with limited access to fresh produce or donate 20% or more of what they grow to agencies that serve these groups (such as food shelves).
